Privacy policy.
The National Council of Firefighter Credit Unions Inc (NCOFCU) (“us,” “we,” or “our”) is committed to the responsible use of your personal and business information (“Information”). This Privacy Policy is an expectation you can have in all your dealings with us. This Privacy Policy is effective December 1, 2024.
1. Types of Information Collected
A. Traffic Data Collected. We automatically track and collect certain information when you visit our Site, including your (a) Internet provider address, (b) domain server, (c) type of computer, (d) information relating to your visit (such as the time of your visit and the pages you visit) and (e) type of web browser (collectively “Traffic Data”). Traffic Data is anonymous information that does not personally identify you but is helpful for marketing purposes or for improving the content and services of the Site. We also use “cookies” to store your password and login information, so you do not have to re-enter it each time you visit the Site. A cookie is a small-encrypted data string that our web server transfers to your hard drive to enhance the transfer of information but does not access or alter any data on your hard drive.
B. Personal Information Collected. For you to access member services and acquire products and services that we offer, we require you to provide us with information that personally identifies you (“Personal Information”). Personal Information may include: (a) Personal Contact Data (such as your name, job title, company name, telephone number, mailing, and e-mail addresses); (b) Financial Data (such as your credit card number); and (c) Demographic Data (such as your zip code or membership type). If you communicate with us by e-mail, post messages to any of our chat groups, bulletin boards, or forums, otherwise complete online forms or surveys, or use our conference apps, any information provided in such communication may be collected as Personal Information.
C. Member Information Collected. The Site will collect and maintain certain information on each member in membership directories. This information includes Member Contact Data (such as your organization's name, address, e-mail address, and telephone number).
2. Uses of Information Collected
We use Personal Contact Data to send you information about the National Council of Firefighter Credit Unions Inc (NCOFCU), our products and services, promotional material from some of our partners, confirmation of orders, or contacting you when necessary. We use your financial data to verify your qualifications for specific products or services and bill you for them. We use your demographic data to customize and tailor your experience on the Site, displaying content that we think you might be interested in and that fits your preferences.
Display Advertising, Remarketing & Audience Data
• We use Display Advertising to serve relevant offers to our website visitors.

• We use Remarketing with Google Analytics to advertise online.
3. Sharing of Personal and Member Information
We currently do not sell personal information to third parties. We share Demographic Data with advertisers and other third parties only on an aggregate basis. We do share a data information system with our affiliates. If you do not want us to share your Contact Data with any third parties, please e-mail our Member Service Center at info@ncofcu.org
4. User Choice Regarding Collection, Use, and Distribution of Personal Information
You may be entitled to request that we disclose to you the personal information we have collected about you, the categories of sources from which we collect the information, the purposes of collecting the information, the categories of third parties with whom we have shared the information, and the categories of personal information that we have shared with third parties for a business purpose. In some instances, you may have the right to receive information about you in a portable and readily usable format. Subject to certain conditions, you may be entitled to request that we delete personal information about you. Before providing or deleting any information, we must be able to verify your identity. We will not delete personal information about you when the information is required to fulfill a legal obligation, is necessary to exercise or defend legal claims, or where we are required or permitted to retain the information by law.
You may choose not to provide us with any Personal Information. In such an event, you can still access and use portions of the Site; however, you will not be able to access and use those portions of the Site that require your Personal Information, including those portions accessible only to members. If you do not wish to receive information and promotional material from us or some of our partners, you may e-mail our Member Service Center at info@ncofcu.org.
You may unsubscribe anytime by clicking the link or in your account settings.
If you would like to appoint an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf and that agent is not already authorized to access your account, we request that you verify your identity with us directly before we provide any requested information to your approved agent. We do not discriminate against you if you choose to exercise these rights.
5. Confidentiality and Security of Personal Information
Except as otherwise provided in this Privacy Policy, we will keep your Personal Information private and will not share it with third parties unless such disclosure is necessary to (a) comply with a court order or other legal process; (b) protect our rights or property; or (c) enforce our Terms of Service. Your Personal Information is stored on secure servers not accessible by third parties. We allow you to transmit your Personal Information via secured and encrypted channels if you use a similarly equipped web browser.
6. User Ability to Access, Update, and Correct Personal Information
To ensure that all of your Personal Information is correct and up to date, if you have any questions regarding your Personal Information or if you are uncomfortable with the collection or use of your Personal Information at any time, you may visit your profile available through the Membership section of our Web site. Through your profile, you may (a) review and update the Personal Information that we have already collected; (b) choose whether or not you wish us to send you information about us or promotional material from some of our partners; or (c) choose whether or not you wish us to share some of your Personal Information with third parties. You may also contact us directly by emailing info@ncofcu.org or by calling 1-305.951.3306 so that we may answer your questions or otherwise address your concerns. Additionally, you may request information about our disclosures of certain categories of Personal Information to third parties for direct marketing purposes. Such requests must be submitted to us at info@ncofcu.org.
7. Credit Card Information
We do not disclose the credit card account information you provide when you choose to make a payment with a credit card. All credit card information is submitted to a secure clearinghouse for processing. We do not keep complete credit card numbers in our database.
8. Lost or Stolen Information
We maintain physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to protect your nonpublic Information. Because there are inherent risks to confidentiality associated with the Internet, the National Council of Firefighter Credit Unions Inc (NCOFCU) has made substantial investments in technology to protect the Personal Information it collects. Your access to some services and content is password-protected. We advise you not to disclose your password to anyone. You are solely responsible for keeping your password confidential and secure. You understand that you are responsible for all use (including any unauthorized use) of your username and password. If your username or password is lost or stolen, or if you believe there has been unauthorized access to your account by a third party, you must notify us immediately and change your password as soon as possible. In addition, we recommend you sign out password-protected services at the end of your session. When necessary, such as for credit card information, we use encryption, and only authorized individuals can access your Information. This policy will be kept current on this site, and we invite you to refer to it regularly.
9. Links to Other Sites
The Site contains links to other Web sites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of such Web sites. We also make discussion forums available to you. Please understand that any information disclosed in these areas becomes public information. We have no control over its use, and you should exercise caution when disclosing your Personal Information. We urge you to visit their privacy pages as well.
10. How Long We Keep Personal Information
We will maintain personal information about you for as long as necessary in connection with both our and your legal rights and obligations for the purposes for which it was collected, to defend or advance legal claims, or otherwise required by applicable legal requirements.
11. Updates and Changes to the Privacy Policy
We reserve the right, at any time and without notice, to add to, change, update, or modify this Privacy Policy simply by posting such change, update, or modification on the Site. If we make material changes, we will post a notice on the home page of our website with a link to the revised Privacy Policy. Any change, update, or modification will be effective immediately upon posting on the Site.
